grosse point mi new window installationAt the beginning of every year interior designers and paint manufacturers love to prognosticate about what the “hot new colors” for the year will be. While they don’t always agree (and 2017 is no exception), it’s interesting to look at what some of the professionals have to say about up-and-coming color trends.

Houzz.com has a very helpful post about the paint colors of the year for 2017. You can read the whole post here, but here’s a quick overview. The author (Jennifer Ott, a San Francisco interior designer) collected input from some of the major paint manufacturers.

The list of popular colors is dominated by deep grayish blues and purples but also includes warm neutrals and bold yellows. Here’s a look at the list:

  • Benjamin Moore: Shadow is a deep, dark purple-gray
  • PPG Paint: Violet Verbena is also a purple-gray but much lighter and brighter
  • Glidden: Byzantine Blue is a neutral purple-gray with a bit more blue in it
  • Olympic: Cloudberry is a lighter (but not pastel) selection
  • Kelly-Moore: Kettleman is a dark gray with a touch of warmth
  • Sherwin-Williams: Poised Taupe is a deep neutral, cool medium brown
  • Dunn-Edwards: Honey Glow is a burst of sunshine amid the cooler, moodier hues

You may or may not choose to use any of these colors in the interior of your Grosse Point home, but if you’re remodeling and including new windows in your home, how will your window frames look with whatever colors you choose? The good news is that you have lots of choices.
